You are invited to the
Christ Church Spring Ball
Saturday, February 25, 2012
6:30-9:30pm
St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Cary
St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 804 High House Road, Cary NC 27513
Gentlemen: This dance requires semi-formal to formal attire. That means at minimum, dress slacks (no denim), a collared shirt and a tie. A note to the younger unmarried men… it is your responsibility to see that all the ladies have an opportunity to dance. If a lady declines your offer to dance, be courteous and do not ask why. Young men who wish to dance with any of the single young ladies should be instructed to ask permission of the father prior to approaching the lady.
Ladies: Modesty is required. Your best church dress will suffice or you can be more formal. Dresses should have modest necklines (no strapless or spaghetti straps), well fitting bodices (not too tight or having a backless style that needs laces), and your arms should be able to move freely and modestly in all directions with your dress staying in place when you bend over. Your hemline should be at or below the knee as the dances are very lively, and you will need shoes that you can almost jog in. Ballet slippers or Mary Janes that won’t slip off work well.
Please give some thought as to how you will attend this event as a family. Enjoy dancing with your spouse and your children. Teach your young men how to ask a young lady to dance, and later how to offer her a drink and seat her with her family. Families with children of all ages should have a designated area to regroup after dances, so that little ones can be checked on, and young people can know where to find their parents if they need them for dance partner input. Children should be active participants in our evening together, and learning the little courtesies that make this event fun for everyone involved. This is a great opportunity to train toddlers as well as teenagers, so please take the time from your own socializing to do it.
Lastly, if you have invited a family to attend our ball, it is your responsibility to host them and make sure they have all the information they need regarding clothing and culture. This will help ensure they feel better prepared for the event.
- This event is free of charge for Christ Church members. Guest fees are: $40.00 per family, $25.00 per couple, and $15.00 per single. All refreshments and drinks will be supplied by St. Michael’s.
- If you have dresses for young ladies or women that you would like to share, please email the church office with the specifics of the dress.
